77.  History of the World:  Revelation 21 - 22  (Part 1)

 

New Jerusalem, the Garden City -- The Eternal Capital City of the Universe

 

 

Revelation 21:1   Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea.

 

 

Psalm 104:5   He established the earth upon its foundations, So that it will endure forever and ever

 

Psalm 89:37   "It shall be established forever like the moon, and the witness in the sky is faithful." Selah.

 

 

Revelation 13:1   Then I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads, and on his horns were ten diadems, and on his heads were blasphemous names.

 

Revelation 21:2   I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband.

 

 

Revelation 21:3   And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them,

 

Revelation 21:6   Then He said to me, "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.

 

Revelation 21:10   He carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God

 

Revelation 21:11   Her brilliance was like a very costly stone, as a stone of crystal-clear jasper.

 

Revelation 21:12   It had a great and high wall, with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels; and names were written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel.  There were three gates on the east and three gates on the north and three gates on the south and three gates on the west.

 

Revelation 21:14   And the wall of the city had twelve foundation stones, and on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

 

Revelation 21:15   The one who spoke with me had a gold measuring rod to measure the city, and its gates and its wall.

 

Revelation 21:16   The city is laid out as a square, and its length is as great as the width; and he measured the city with the rod, fifteen hundred miles; its length and width and height are equal.

 

Revelation 21:17   And he measured its wall, seventy-two yards, according to human measurements, which are also angelic measurements.

 

Revelation 21:18   The material of the wall was jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass.

 

Revelation 21:19 -20  The foundation stones of the city wall were adorned with every kind of precious stone.

 

The first foundation stone was jasper;

            the second, sapphire;

                        the third, chalcedony;

                                    the fourth, emerald;

the fifth, sardonyx;

            the sixth, sardius;

                        the seventh, chrysolite;

                                    the eighth, beryl;

                                                the ninth, topaz;

                                                            the tenth, chrysoprase;

                                                                        the eleventh, jacinth;

                                                                                    the twelfth, amethyst.

Revelation 21:21   And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; each one of the gates was a single pearl.           And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.

 

Ezekiel 28:13 - 16   "You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering: The ruby, the topaz and the diamond; The beryl, the onyx and the jasper; The lapis lazuli, the turquoise and the emerald.   I placed you there. You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked in the midst of the stones of fire.  I have cast you as profane from the mountain of God. And I have destroyed you, O covering cherub, From the midst of the stones of fire.

 

Revelation 21:23   And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb.

 

Revelation 22:1- 2   Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, in the middle of its street. On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

 

Hebrews 11:10   He was looking for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God.

 

Galatians 4:26   The Jerusalem above is free; she is our mother.

 

2 Peter 3:13   According to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.

 

Ecclesiastes 3:11   He has also set eternity in their heart
